No, the difference between the comp and "base" IS the manual. Yes the auto gets an upgraded motor to go along with the stouter gearbox***. Otherwise they are the same, they have the same suspension and same options list. Even styling other than the badge is interchangeable, can order shadow line on base or body color mirrors and spoiler on comp at no charge.
***not looking to start a debate on the merits of the manual box handling more power, regardless of opinion on that, BMW has decided that it can not/should not. Leave that for another thread.
