Taken from the web:G8x tire dimensions:
275/40 ZR18 103Y XL // 285/35 ZR19 103Y XL

18 in the front and 19 in the rear? I'm thinking 18 in the front to balance out the added weight in front with the rear? Its a rather odd tire spec.

There are in fact three OE wheel size combos for the G8X, all of them in staggered diameters: 18"/19", 19"/20" and 20"/21", with the later one being the M-Performance offering.

IMO, the reason for this staggered setup is to improve front end grip with improved rear end stability, just as they did on the F8X GTS and CS.
