I’m one of those few. Don’t need AWD, don’t need the weight or complexity and for me it is overrated.
I want to do things myself on track, I don’t want the car to do them for me. It’s why I skipped the Mitsubishi Evo and stayed with BMW.
No RWD and manual means no sale for me.

I realize some people use their cars exclusively on track, like you.
For us that use it like it was designed, for street and track use, AWD would make a lot of sense... sure it weighs a little more but it'd make a lot of sense.
The only downside would be weighing 150lbs more... but the added performance, especially in the winter and when wet, would make it a no-brainer for a year-rounder performance and fun car.
