Who knows, the E39 may appreciate even more over time as EVs become the norm. However that is banking on keeping that car at least 10+ years. I feel it would be a nice garage queen to drive occasionally while having a modern M car for daily purposes.
I think people have found G80/82s for MSRP in states where there is less demand. In SoCal at least one can forget it.
