You’re right, and that’s a great point. It enters my mind that, although BMW M hasn’t done this in the US, Mercedes-AMG has with the GLC63 coupe which comes only in S guise here. It’ll be interesting to see how the X5/X6 M are handled in the UK. Even still, as you mention, the base model with the same AWD/AT drivetrain still exists for all of the other markets that dictate it.
