We will never get the sound of the V8 we had with the E92 M3 but I do am pleased about the sound of my F92 (2015). Not so impressive the first minute of a cold start because the cats need to be on temperature and it does sound as a lawn mower. The new model will without doubt have a particle filter just like the F92 (2018) which unfortunately further dempens the engine sound. We will see how it sounds on the X3M. Replacing the downpipes by catless downpipes is also not an option in Belgium because it will then not pass the periodic car inspection (because of the too high NOx levels). I did install the Macht Schnell Exhaust Valve Control module to control the actuators and the sound is awesome and still a headturner.
