How true is this?

The M3 Competition's steering is quick and heavy, but also very synthetic, something Roadshow managing editor Steven Ewing mentioned in his review of the standard model. "The speed-sensitive, variable-ratio setup means the M3 turns in quickly and instantly responds to changes in direction, but the whole experience is lifeless,"
