Hello G8X forum, we recently finished our vectored illustration on the all new G80 M3 Competition! Very interesting design to work with, and from our social media profiles the general public is not kind to it. You can truly appreciate the drastic design shift when presented among the previous generations.
Here are our thoughts on the G80 M3 Competition:
- Much better impression in person. Like most recent BMW’s (new 2 series as example) you cannot truly appreciate the design from photographs. In person the front bumper is much less offensive, and actually works well with the design.
- We do not like the headlights/taillights. Clearly BMW will update these features soon when the LCI comes out in a few years. The F80, for example, went backwards in design for 2015 when compared to a late model E92. The LCI came out just a year later with much more handsome lighting, so we are hopeful!
- Disappointed with the caliper design of the rear brakes. Even with the optional carbon ceramic brakes, the rear caliper is very lame when compared to the F80 rear caliper. Automotive journalists do not seem to notice or care one bit.
That’s our small take on the new M3. We have high hopes for this generation and are sure the public will warm up to its design soon. We aren’t experts, just obsessed BMW enthusiasts.
