Yes, when I posted there was a little tongue in cheek . . .
Things are no different on Bimmerpost than on any other sport/sporty car enthusiast forum. Topics dominated by track times; 0-60 times; etc. Yet, at the end of the day, 99% of owners routinely use these cars on the roadways.
So, to your point and mine, and despite the common focus, the G80/82 are extremely capable driving machines that do not get enough attention for the role they most often play. . . and too much attention for a role rarely played.
The fact that the ///M cars can wear so many hats is probably their greatest engineering feat.
