I don't think there is any benefit to it beyond, me liking the tactile feel. I have pretty dry palms and hands but even still after holding the wheel for awhile some perspiration forms and I enjoy a gloved hand.

In the summer I don't wear em as much.
I think that a bike glove might be good too. I have never tried it, but I can see myself liking my fox bike gloves while driving.

And, I can also see other people laughing at me while wearing them.

I do not drive my M without gloves. I prefer to limit the transfer of oil and dirt from my hands.
