No. The E36 328 was an iron block inline 6 cylinder.

The nikasil block issues were only the M60 B30 and B40, which were aluminum block V8s in the 530, 540/740/840.

No need for the aggression. I am talking about something as I remember it from over 20 years ago so I wouldn't call that spreading BS.

If the issue with the x28i engines wasn't the liner material used, what was it? The attached (see para 2) suggests that my memory is better than yours…

And that E36 was still a fantastic car.

Wrong again. My memory is not an issue here, this was an M60 issue. Perhaps you should Google M60 engine issues to copy and paste more accurately the next time you derail a thread. I know this issue better than most.
Right actually - we both are. The M60 had an issue and so did the M52 (in Europe). Or are you saying I dreamt that my car was in the dealer for a week having the block changed and my friend with the 528i had the same dream?🤔
