Both 825s and 826s are painted. The only difference is the bi-color 825s' face is polished alloy (clear coated); every other surface is gloss black. The Orbit Gray 825s are all painted, save the lip, in a more forgiving medium gray.

How any rim holds up boils down to how carefully it's maintained and cleaned -- even light silver ones. I thoroughly hose mine down (till the pressure washer arrives), use a reputable wheel cleaner and variety of soft wheel brushes, then dry with a leaf blower and microfiber towel designed for paint. More time, more effort; but better results and longevity.
