A bad pot hole is enough to knock out the alignment.

Are you high? What standard procedure are you even referring to? There is no way in hell anyone should follow this advice. Your car does not need an alignment every 10k miles… your car needs an alignment when your car starts pulling left or right or when your tires start wearing abnormally.
