Their mentality might be that of one being cocky and I strongly feel that BMW, Audi and Mercedes all look at each other as each others competition. It doesn't matter what Tesla is doing as long as the other three aren't doing anything.
Long game, unless Tesla as a company can get to the manufacturing scale that BMW, Audi and Mercedes are at, it's only a matter of time before the German 3 fully go electric and when that time comes, there is zero doubt that the end product, in all aspects, will be better than Tesla. Pricing aside, we already seen what an EV can be and what we would expect with the Taycan, I'm sure all of them can do something quite similar with a lower price tag.

Taycan is seriously limited by it's battery and the lack of CCS charging network to support it.
Tesla's major advantage is their battery factory's, as well as their worldwide supercharger network.
