I will have done between 3500-5000km ON track during the ownership of my M2 (around 36months) and you would barely be able to tell it's been on track by seeing or driving it. Proper care and maintenance is the key but remember an old beater track car will have plenty of old stuff to attend to, very different experience than a new car.

I know other members do way more than this and still drive there family to the restaurant on Friday nights. It's the beauty of M cars.

I have close friends who have track cars, some are so deep into the rabbit hole that throughout the years they spent the price of a new M2 on them. They still only enjoy them 2-3% of the summer season. And they don't even do competitive events..

Just giving some insight on the différent aspects. There is no right or wrong here it's really what fits best what you want to do.

Like me I was storing my M2 for winter and realized I kept wanting to enjoy the car so the G80 will be used all year. Put your priorities on a piece of paper sometimes it helps make a decision.
