Been watching this thread closely since the weekend. Thanks Alex for the recall lookup - cheers.

My G80 Comp xDrive (which was ordered in March this year by the way) arrived in Aus yesterday. Production date was 30 July 21. Its currently at the port waiting transport to the dealership. Ran the recall check on the UK site prior to the API being taken off-line, and the dreaded STOP021954 was there.

Passed this info on to my blissfully unaware dealer on Monday, to which they replied the next day that they have “asked BMW for clarification of the issue, and its rectification, as a matter of urgency and they will report back to me as soon as we have accurate information”. Fair enough.

In the meantime, from what I understand (as a mechanical engineer) a fix is likely not a big deal as it’s a relatively simple low-risk changeout procedure.

And I am comforted by the thought that there is no way that BMW will risk trashing the reputation of their halo model.

So, I’m going to chill out, relax, grab some more popcorn and watch for more comments on this thread. And hope that I can get my hands on this awesome machine sooner rather than later. It’s been a long 8 months and counting…
