In the past... BMW made a Competition package... which is an options package.
Now.. BMW is making an entire model named the Competition model.
Consider the following.
Porsche Cayman
Porsche Cayman S
Porsche Cayman GTS
Porsche Cayman GT4
that is a 4 car model hierarchy on the Cayman platform.
BMW is now doing the same with all the M car lines.. for the next generation M3 for example.. it will be

M3 Competition (
NOT a ZCP package)
M3 CS
M3 CSL
The first line to have this expanded lineup of models (on sale at the same time) is the M5.
