Besides the fact that the stated HP figures usually are closer to wheel HP rather than crank, the M340i will weigh more than the G80 and have a higher center of gravity. Hopefully the G20 M340i will come with an LSD, otherwise it's still no contest and miles below a real M car in driving dynamics. But I agree... 500hp would be nice. However, if we take the ballpark 15% drivetrain loss into consideration, at 465 RWHP, that's significantly above 500hp to the crank. Nonetheless, these numbers are less important than how much of that power can be put to the ground and how the car handles overall.
Please don't bring up bmw understates hp again. Doesn't everybody? Basically they level out. So 500 claimed bhp should really be a standard.
