As long as the next gen M3/M4 significantly outperforms the current F8x gen (which I assume it will) and also is just is much or even more fun to drive subjectively (which I think BMW will make sure of given the increasingly-tight competition) then I'll be interesting regardless of whether or not it is a plug-in hybrid or more "conventional" layout...
