The starting prices for the base and Competition M3/M4 as well as the difference in standard equipment were covered in the introductory press material.
The only difference between base and Competition is that the base has:
- 6MT
- Lower output engine to accommodate the 6MT
- Body color mirrors/spoiler and chrome exhaust tips (with the Competition model’s gloss black parts available at no charge)
- 18”/19” wheels (with all of the same 19”/20” styles as the Competition model available for a nominal price)
I think they should have just dumped the 18”/19” wheels and brought the starting price up on the base model, but they were clearly looking to squeeze it in under $70K MSRP.
