Drove BMW Manuals since 2003 E46. All pretty much the same with the exception of the F80 that was...better.
Yes, 1-2 was initially a challenge, figured out to shift at lower RPM (as someone suggested above) and no issues at all. Over time got better and better.
Went M340i last September -- hated the transmission and lack of engagement and "too much refinement" of the vehicle (from many aspects).
Now waiting...
Yeah I've had 4 e36 m3's all stick and took my license test in a lifted 5 speed f350.

I don't remember any issues like my m2c had in any of my previous stick cars.

The car was clunky to hustle

Had a well documented delay in power delivery

And needed about 1k worth of aftermarket parts to get it even close to right.

Granted I've done all the same mods to previous m3's but once done the shifting was flawless.

Idk I hope you enjoy it.

My m4c is super fun so far, and I hope you like your car too.
