If you’re going to sell a car like an E39 M5, this is probably a historically great time to do it. Pretty much the polar opposite market conditions compared to your first go-round.

Conversely, new cars have MSRPs set for “normal” conditions and are thus good buys. If you’re financing, BMW’s current rates are quite favorable. However, you’ll still be in line for meaningful depreciation when things go back to normal.

If you do make the switch, no need to rush things - lower your cost of driving the new car by seeking out deals under MSRP.
