BMW does have & has used the capability to limit power/torque till specific goals are met. Its strictly automatic.
My 335is had a factory built in temporary 50ftlb torque increase (boost) on WOT acceleration. This feature was locked out till the 1200 mile break-in was completed. Tested just before & just after 1200 miles rolled by on the odometer.
No doubt the car was stronger after 1200 miles. Feature was mentioned in the owners manual.

On their motorcycle the S1000rr the bike is restricted until the first service.
As others have said; the increase in power is really accessing power you already had. Except you were limited by the recommended restrictions of not exceeding a certain RPM.
VW made a performance pack GTI. It made a little more torque and little more HP same engine as the base.
So who knows what happens when your car gets scanned after 1st service.
Cars also have a break-in period…
