The motor will loosen up as everything wears in together up until about 5K miles. So yes, the car will get quicker but it is not a SW update. The change is purely mechanical in nature.
Back in the day you could see it in the C&D long term tests. Cars were regularly a few 1/10ths quicker at the end of the year vs initial delivery.
