Agree. The leather and interior is on a par with the 7/8 series. Quality of materials identical to the M8C. The M340/440 is not. That matters to me. I want luxury as well as performance and the M4C gives both. The M340/440 are fine cars--for what they are. But they are not M. You do get what you pay for.
I test drove the M340i and was very impressed and had all intentions of getting one but it was missing that extra detail you were getting in a higher end BMW. Once sat in a M3, I knew it looked and felt more of a 70k plus car even compared to the F80. Realistically I won't use the car to its full potential but it's my money and I don't mind being that guy at Cars and coffee posing with my hot chocolate.
