Yes and no. OTS maps are inherently (or should be) built with a bit of headroom for safety. Custom tunes tend to be on the edge or just slightly dialed back from that, so if a more aggressive timing maps is used and gets you the same results, it’s not always a good thing. Why be more on the ragged edge and still get the same results. I don’t know what the logs looks like on this tune, but if it’s pulling more timing than an OTS and not making any more, it’s not making any more power because of all that pull. It’s not good thing to ride the safeties of an engine constantly… but I’m not saying that’s what’s happening here.
