The proof about how people feel will be reflected in sales #s. Many U.S. dealers have a dozen or more unsold M3/4s sitting on their lots gathering dust. But the front end design is driving a lot of BMW owners away.

I highly doubt that. The ones that are sitting generally have a huge mark-up on them, and even with that mark-up a lot were sold. There are significant wait lists for AWD, and allocations, especially for base, are very hard to come by (to the extent brokers have stopped taking new clients). If you had multiple calls for "smoking" deals, send them my way and I'll gladly take them up on it
