My wife and I were talking today that a communication degree in college might be the best degree available now to kids growing up. We’re both early 40s and she always viewed her comm degree as a joke to others. But now as she’s seeing mid 20s to early 30s come into the workforce she’s amazed at how bad they are at communicating and voicing themselves verbally. I agree.

As far as social media, our pre teen uses Be Real, and our teen uses SnapChat. And that’s all we allow. those apps are so limited and they can’t scroll mindlessly, so it’s more about communicating with others in some quick way.

I did notice screen time broke again on my pre teens phone and she was using YouTube like crazy. One day watched 1.5hrs of reels, and went straight to YT 23 as the first app when picking up the phone. I locked it down to 30 minutes a day after I updated the device. Her attitude has been much more positive already. Just affirmed to me yet again, limiting this crap works.

Now…I just need to stop reading the news. I’m a news junkie.
