Markus has been interviewed by a famous german car-tuber a few weeks ago. And he announced a car, that will have no stock bmw model. Instead, it will be a pure M car. He also pointed out, that it has no predecessor.

I mentioned that it didn't happen for the 40th anniversary and there's no indication that it'll happen for the 50th anniversary.
Of course, we as BMW fans all wish for it, and I hope I'm wrong here, but I really wouldn't hold my breath.
There have been talks and rumors about a BMW supercar for decades now and, like the boy who cried wolf, people will only be inclined to believe it if and when it finally happens.
At best, we might get something like a follow-up to the i8, or a more performance oriented concept of such (i.e.,
BMW Vision M Next). But that's more of a hybrid sportscar (and that's putting it very flatteringly).
But a true supercar like the AMG Project One from BMW M? Forget it.
