All I know for sure is from my experience driving my RWD M340i… Great car, but with 255 rears on PS4S, the engine management wants to cut torque in the first two gears to maintain traction and stability and my car is significantly down on power by comparison. Very rarely do I get cleanly off the line when I push it from a stop and sometimes even rev hangs on the 1-2 shift. The car just doesn’t have enough tire for the job. Yes, 285 is a much wider tire but not that much wider when you’re adding another 120hp in comp spec! So my best guess is the AWD will be much faster in gears 1, 2, 3 because the ecu won’t limit the torque as much. If you’re daily driving the thing, you’ll be spending a lot of time in those first three gears. If I went with RWD, I’d be looking for 305s to put in the back.
