I think a collision is more likely than not if they are both fighting for the first corner. I could see neither of them conceding. I guess it depends on the Abu Dhabi track reconfiguration (done so to improve overtaking), perhaps leading in the first corner will not be as necessary.

A collision, even a blatant one, would not lead to Max getting banned from the sport. Michael Schumacher purposely turned into Jacques Villeneuve in the 1997 title deciding race and was stripped of his championship points for the year. Of course it was fortunate that he didn't take out JV (which would have won him the championship).

(Ignoring the infamous Senna/Prost collisions -- I don't recall either driver being punished).
Both were nearly banned.
Have to remember Prost and Senna were team mates. Much less harsh penalties for those.

The main case is premeditation. If there's a plan, there's a ban.

Schumacher got his 2nd place in the WDC removed. So if Max were to do that, and it's blatant as these examples were, Max would lose the WDC.
