I mean....yes, power to weight matters, but so does gearing, braking, etc.

Look at the difference in 0-60 times. Despite a better power to weight ratio, the writing was already on the wall with the Caterham 0-60(62?) being 4.8 vs the BMW's 3.5.

A 0-60 time < 0.5s apart would be a closer comparison IMO, but in the video you can see by the 2nd corner the BMW is already able to pull away hard.

0-60 isn't everything, but in this case it's a pretty significant difference IMO. The 420 - or even 620 - would be a better match for the top tier M3.
