There is an interesting comment from Papadakis about this:

Basically he noticed a coating in the rod bearings, this extra protection he said, could be for the auto start stop feature. So obviously it will cause extra wear, when the engine is off, it will take a bit of time for the crank to be lubricated.
I always disable this feature, if I can reduce the bearing wear, I will.
