Also looking for recommendations on pants and pack.

Pants need to be wind proof and comfortable. Temps when we hike in Aug-Sept will not be arctic cold. We will likely wear thermals under the hiking pants.

Regarding pack, I’m thinking 30 liter size or thereabouts. We aren’t bivouacing and there is no need for a huge load of provisions. Simply enough water and food for a 6 hour hike or so, after which we return either to a hut or parking lot.

Deuter is my preferred brand of pack. Does anyone have a favorite pack brand in the 30-liter class?
