High speed fiery crash splits car in two

Maybe wrong forum, can't tell from pics if it's an M3.

Quote:
A car traveling at a high rate of speed on the border of Dublin and San Ramon crashed into a tree, split in two and caught fire on Tuesday night, killing the two people in the vehicle, officials said.

The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Dougherty Road near Fall Creek Road. When firefighters arrived, they found both sections of the car, a "dark colored" BMW M3, fully engulfed in flames. One part of the car landed about 50 feet away from its other part. During the investigation, a long stretch of Dougherty Road was taped off and closed to the public.

Dublin police confirmed that the victims, who are believed to be San Ramon residents, were a 25-year-old man, who was the driver, as well as another man. Both men's identities are being determined, according to the Alameda County Coroner's Office.

Police added that based on evidence located at the scene of the crash, excessive speed was a factor.

A video from the scene shows a long swath of debris and flames with firefighters putting out the blazes at various spots near a sound wall.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the victims," a statement from Dublin police said.
