It might not seem like a great match off-hand, but especially with kith showcasing an e30 m3 alongside a new custom build, it seems perfect for their niche.
Bmw gains by having these custom, retro themed m3/4 builds associated with a brand that attracts people willing to spend a lot on clothing that values casual retro style. Someone willing to spend 800 USD on a pair of track pants, might also be in the market for a car with an msrp at 100k+.
Many true car enthusiasts, who value driving dynamics above all else, might be be happy in a 2012 e90 m3 anyway. When they're ready to spend more, they'll buy a Porsche.
