That's my question as well. I had the F80 and found no lag taking off hard from a stop. I now have the X3m Comp and there is lag taking off hard from a stop. Only lag I notice is from a stop. No such situation in my previous F10 M5s either.

So when I took my X3M In for its 1 year service I mentioned the lag and they said they would look into it. They did a computer update (part was for the recall which I can't remember what it was for) they didn't mention the lag when finished and I forgot to ask BUT the car has been much more responsive since that service and the lag is only very minor now. So I think they do have a software update that can help.
I am sure they ironed it out for M3/M4 using X3M as real world tester for engine...
