I never noticed this on my F80. The doors closed flush with the quarter panel AND THEN the flare started... it was aggressive and elegant.
Exactly.. the character lines of the F80 were much more simple. It had a strong shoulder line but not much else going on beneath it; allowing for a much more flat door-rear arch transition. This made the flared rear arches look mega, and much better integrated into the design, IMO.
