If I keep this new vehicle for 10 years or more and want to protect it due to the additional money paid for it, does it change this perspective? For me, it does. For others, it's probably still too much regardless of how long you plan to keep the car.
I think if things were normal, M cars were plentiful, and depreciation was as it has been in the past, I might think more about it. However, new car shortages now mean used car shortages in 3-5 years...so dumping 6-8K into PPF on a car that depreciates maybe half as much as before doesn't seem as bad, all things considered.

And, at least for me, frozen paint is harder to repair...so if you do get scratches it's not just a quick buff out.

I've already checked most of the boxes on my build...so what's one more line item.
