After our release of our Ruby stone G80 M3 at this past Orlando BMW Invasion in February, we made a plan to put this car to the test. Now with just over 14,000 miles on the odometer our G80 just got back from its longest road trip yet.
Our drive started on Friday with a quick stop at the BMW CCA foundation in Greer, South Carolina.
After a quick preview of their next collection reveal, we took off down the road to the BMW Performance Driving Center. Due to a warm welcome from the staff we were able to get the G80 trackside with some of the official cars on hand and took a look around their state of the art facility!
Closing out the day we had to swing by the Zentrum museum for some history and a very nice Photo OP.
Nice and early Saturday morning we met everyone at the annual BMW CCA MX1 Event where the G80 was stationed at the Moton Suspension USA and Akrapovic Booths!
This was our final stop in South Carolina before we hit the road for our 530 mile trip back. A quick detour lead us perfectly going through Savannah at sunset so of course, more photos were taken!
Overall, the G80 M3 made for an extremely comfortable road trip vehicle. The trunk had plenty of room for everything I needed, the interior was spacious and allowed for both myself and a passenger to relax with all the creature comforts that BMW is known for. The seats were COMFORTABLE... yes... I said comfortable. Once we got the seats exactly how we wanted them, the drive was a breeze. The Moton one-ways allowed for a fun stiff ride through the backroads and a perfect smooth ride while cruising on the highway. The Thule on top made no whistling noise and we had ZERO problems with the front grills. After all 530+ miles of backroads and highway driving... we didn't have a single mark on our heat exchanger. This trip truly put our PSI G80 M3 to the test... and it passed.
Prior to this road trip we were lucky enough to have Larry Chen do a full breakdown on our car! Click the link below to check that out!
