Likely install related. Shop needs to make sure all bolts are torqued properly and rubber spring insulator isn't torn. Usually we'll add a light layer of grease before seating the spring so this doesn't happen. If the boot is already torn, it will need replacement.

So update on my creaking noise: I ended up taking it to the dealer for a second set of eyes after the original shop tried to fix it. Dealer said the springs were "collapsing onto themselves" meaning that when compressed, one coil was hitting the adjacent cool. They said they applied grease to them to lessen the impact and reduce the noise. My concern is, should the springs be doing that? To me, grease seems like a temporary fix since it could get washed away with rain water etc.
What do you guys think?
