Yeah - so the different types of reg are:
Dateless: Something like MBR123 (or F1)
Then old number plates: Something like ABC123Y (in this example the last letter indicates the year the car was registered)
Newer number plates: Something like M123ABC (in this example the first letter indicates the year the car was registered)
Latest number plates: Something like AB72ABC (in this example the number indicates the year the car was registered including which half of the year, so 22 means registered between March 2022 and September 2022 and 72 means registered between September 2022 and March 2023). The first two letters usually give an indication of where the car was registered too. So LC is common for Croydon (for example).
For cars registered in the second half of the year the first number goes up by one every 10 years. So a car with a 62 plate was registered in 2012 (unless its a private number plate, where you are not allowed to make a car appear younger than it is, but you can make a new car look older if you see what I mean).
