One would hope so...
However, it is still waaaayyy more engaged than any Automatic/DCT. Not better, not worse, but more engaged and for some of us still the only way to have these cars. Last one I tried to like with the 8AT was an awesome M340i. Loved it first 2 weeks, wanted to love it the following 4.5 months, hated it (could not wait to get out of it) last 3 months...
So, I am sticking with the third pedal as long as they are letting me to
