This myth has literally been around for well over a decade now, I'm surprised there hasn't been an official response from BMW Corporate at this point. Or maybe there has been and I'm just not aware of it?

I wouldn't take what an SA says as gospel. I'm of the belief that the average Bimmerpost user knows more about the G8X platform and M's in general than the vast majority of SA's. I don't mean that as an insult, just that the industry has a non-trivial turnover rate and they have to be broadly familiar with all vehicle series and multiple generations. I don't know about you guys, but I obsess about these cars to the point I should probably seek professional help
I wouldn't be surprised that they hear the rumors that everyone else does and just roll with it; Makes the customer happier too. Or who knows, maybe I'm the one who's wrong, wouldn't be the first time!
