The whole reason the past CEO was fired was because they were falling behind with electric cars, so to make a large claim like that seems pretty ironic. Even still they don't want to fully develop a BEV platform but want to use a compromised platform that is shared with ICE and PHEV's.
Hopefully the i4 and iX (or whatever they call it) will reflect the large claim they are making.
