I used to work for Carfax, this is the secret sauce they don't want to share.

I'll say for certain that they used to have a department that would solicit body shops to share information.

Insurance companies do share info, this is a fact.

Fun tip: When ordering a part like a fender from a dealer or online, use a vin that isn't yours.
