Not only that but the turbo wastegates are usually held fully open, ignition timing is retarded, and exhaust valves (in the cylinder head, not the muffler flap valves) are kept open to try and heat the catalytic converters up as quickly as possible so the engine will sound very different during that cold start cat heating cycle.
