You don't understand. If you can't stop staring at something out of shock, it's because you either can't believe how beautiful it is or can't believe how ugly it is. In this case, it's probably the latter.
You keep thinking your eyes must be deceiving you since what you're seeing is an abomination.
For example, when I first saw the PT cruiser, I couldn't stop staring. I tried to understand how someone could see beauty in it. I eventually gave up though.
