BMW has been using this new M wheel on all their M Sport and M cars for the past few years. I do think it looks chunkier, but in hand it feels much nicer. The quality is palpably better including the tactile feedback on the buttons, quality of the leather/stitching, and while I know this has nothing to do with the steering wheel, the stupid turn signal and wiper stalk have been "fixed" to be more conventional now.

I'll admit it looks bad in pictures, but it looks fine in person. I use one every day. The only problem is that the wheel is unnecessarily thick. It's not uncomfortable but I wonder why carmakers are making their wheels so thick these days.

Let's be honest, BMW has a history of making pretty ugly steering wheels. The past two M wheels have been some of the best in BMW's history.
