Maybe they have a secret deal with Kim Jong-un to buy a fleet of them and this is what he wanted.
You struck a cord with me on that statement - I really am with you here.

Who is the target? For a car in this segment, shouldn't the target market be the late 20/early 30's and up mid-level professional who wants to feel excitement once in a while on a dreary commute, and barnstorm backroads or run track-days on any weekend? To me, one stand out line-item that told me that I'm no longer who they want to reach is the power trunklid. Really BMW. In a sporting sedan that's already bloated up past the 2ton mark, I guess why not - but still, that's not the ethos that kept most of us eagerly snatching up order slots.

I don't want any parts of my anatomy feeling like they're on fire nowadays - that would call for penicillin.

I can't shake the impression that every bit of material other than the needed 360 press-photos is really trying its balls off to hide the grille as much as is possible.

I don't think BMW are proud of it either, but if it's your particular style, you do you and F the haters!

Just not my bag, baby.

Another nugget from my unwise mind: An associate has worked with many different manufacturers as part of interior design and NVH - he is now with one of the Koreans. He made the move prior to Hyundai/Kia poaching a good bit of the BMW M design team..... That manufacturer is now killing it, putting out aesthetically pleasing and still unique vehicles - and hitting the nail on the head with their new performance line. Ironically, the "N" Line. What comes after M? Well, a hyundai isn't in my future for a toy - but their product is now a serious option for those in the hot-hatch family, and most of my driving group actually feel the N is the best in class for driving experience. That's a company that's getting youth buyers in hand over fist. Something just hasn't felt right in Munich since they lost Albert Biermann.
